The Arc of Greater
Williamsburg
The Mission of The Arc of Greater Williamsburg is
to improve the well-being of older teens to senior
citizens with intellectual disabilities through the
provision of monthly social, educational, and recreational
activities, while providing respite for their families
and caregivers.
Our members are people with intellectual and physical
disabilities, their families, friends, interested
citizens and dedicated health service professionals.
All are concerned with improving the quality of life
of people with intellectual disabilities.

Programs and Services
The Arc
of Greater Williamsburg (GW) is a local
chapter which has served young adults to senior citizens
in the community for over 33 years. In 2008 we provided
nearly 14,000 hours of respite to families and caregivers
and were grateful for 3,400 hours of volunteer service.
• We conduct 10-11 activities each month.
They are held in the evenings or on weekends.
• We offer programming for young adults to
senior citizens.
• We have three distinct programs: Self-Advocacy
(Education); Adapted Wellness (Fitness); and Quality
of Life (Social/recreational).
• We work with area high school transition
teams to bring awareness to our programs once these
young adults leave special education.
We strive to make our activities:
