Introduction to the Williamsburg Landing 5K Benefit Run for Arc Awareness

In an effort to raise community awareness and enhance the services provided by
The Arc, Williamsburg Landing will be hosting a 5K Benefit Run to raise Arc
Awareness and honor the work that they do in our community. Whether on a stroll,
a brisk walk, or competing to be the fastest runner, this benefit race will appeal to
people of all abilities by providing a 5K run competition, 5K walk competition, and
a 1-mile fun walk/run.

LOCATION: Williamsburg Landing Continuing Care Retirement Community (off Lake Powell Road, Williamsburg, VA)

TIME:

7:30 am - Race day registration and packet pickup begins
8:30 am - One mile fun walk/ run
9:00 am - 5K run/5K walk
10:15 am - Awards ceremony and raffle drawing

EVENT DESCRIPTION: Williamsburg Landing is hosting a 5K run/walk event and a 1 mile fun run/walk with all proceeds going to benefit the Arc of Greater Williamsburg, their programs and services.

COURSE: Nestled in the gentle tree covered hills surrounding Williamsburg, this out-and-back course traverses the 137acre campus of Williamsburg Landing which neighbors College Creek. The registration and finish lines will be at the William A. Doig Health Club and Spa. The start line will be near the Woodhaven building.

REGISTRATION DONATION: Minimum donation for pre-entries is $15 per entrant on or before 8/31/2010. Minimum donation for entries is $20 per entrant on or after 9/1/2010. Entrants under age 10 are free.

ALL ENTRANTS MUST SIGN WAIVER. (Parent or Guardian signature required if under 18.)

SHIRTS: All pre-registered 5K Walk/Run entrants will receive a t-shirt in the requested size. Race-day entrants will receive shirts while supplies last. Any extra shirts will be sold for $10 a shirt.

RAFFLE: $2 per chance to win a prize or 6 for $10. Proceeds benefit Arc. Need not be present to win.

REFRESHMENTS: Light snacks and water will be provided by Williamsburg Landing.

Top overall winners, men and women
Top 3 men and women in 10 year age groups from 15 and under to 65-and-over in the 5K race
Top 3 men and women in the 5K Walk

PARKING: Parking will be available near the main Landing building and behind the Woodhaven building. Follow signs. Transportation busses will be available to shuttle participants to the registration area.

RESTROOMS: Locker rooms located in the William A. Doig Health Club and Spa/registration and finish area.

From 1-64 East or West:
Take exit 242 A onto Route 199
At the third traffic light, turn left onto Brookwood Dr.
From Brookwood, take the first left onto Lake Powell Rd.
Williamsburg Landing is the first left off Lake Powell Rd.

From Colonial Williamsburg: .
Take Jamestown Rd. (Route 5) past the college
At the second stop light, turn left onto Route 199 East
At the first stoplight, turn Right onto Brookwood Dr.
From Brookwood, take the first left onto Lake Powell Rd.
Williamsburg Landing is the first Left off Lake Powell Rd.

RAIN DATE: In case or severe weather the event will be canceled. There is no rain date.
